Hitchhiking across the galaxy...

I just finished reading The Restaurant at the End of the Universe and now I am itching to read the next book. Spags let me borrow his anthology so now I can finish reading the whole series. Only problem is I may do nothing else and as if the book wasn't enough I just realized that you can play the original hitchhiker game on Douglas Adams' website! That game is one the first video games I ever played. I never could get very far in the game but I still loved it! Now I am obsessed with it and need to beat it once and for all.
On a different note but still relating to space...go see Star Wars! It was great! Lucas saved himself. It is tons of fun and filled with plenty of light saber action. The flick rarely ever slows down it is just non-stop Jedi action. The best part is the extremely smooth transition into retro 70's Star Wars style we all know and love.

Saturday = workday

Got to the ceramics studio at 10 this morning and didn't leave til' 5. My mini Volkus came out of the kiln and it looks great. I also remade the portrait cup for the third time and hopefully the last. I finally made a successful teapot for my mom. It was supposed to be a Mother's day gift but it is a bit late. I used the colored porcelain and it came out pretty well. The green and blue swirled together quite nicely. I also printed the cowboy screen onto some porcelain and it is VERY cool. I want to make a tall mug with the cowboy on it. Going to see Star Wars late tonight, super excited!

Rebuilding the Kiln

In the summer of 2002 there was a kiln building workshop at NCC. During the summer of 2004 we finally got the kiln installed and hooked up to gas but It would get hot enough. The gas running in the pipes isn't enough pressure to get the kiln up to temperature. So instead of having new pipes installed we decided to shrink the kiln so it will get up to temperature. Eric Mirabito, the Artist in residence at Lill Street art center came down to direct the job. We had plenty of help and it went very smoothly. Lets just hope it all works. Aurora unlocked the art department's storage garage and I found some old silkscreens from the 80's. One in particular of a cowboy I am very excited about.

Momentum

I was up at six this morning to finish coloring 20 prints but now all my work is done for the show and it feels great! The show opened tonight and it went really well. There were a bunch of people there and I sold one piece and two other works were bought. That's pretty good for a student show opening. Hopefully I'll sell some more pieces before the show comes down on June 13th.
